What is it about a vintage photo that evokes such strong emotion? The small, square silvery silhouettes that offer a glimpse of days gone by are treasured reminders of your family, your history, your heritage. Seattle photographer Martha Larson fell in love with vintage photos from the 1940s and 1950s and began offering vintage photos as part of her baby and maternity photography business (She actually shoots with vintage cameras, authentically reproducing the look and feel of mid-century photos.)

Larson fine-tuned her Baby, Kids and Maternity specialty at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography. After working her way down the East Coast, wowing families in New York and Boston, she landed in Seattle in 2007 and has found a following among clients who love her artistic approach and New Pacific Northwest Style (think outdoors, beachy, wind-swept hair).

For those interested in a studio session, Larson utilizes her own style to capture pregnant women who prefer a very casual jeans-and-t-shirt look and to shoot kiddos with a clean, crisp, modern take.

A full-service professional, Larson offers a full range of products, though clients seem to gravitate toward her large canvasses, as well as her small one-of-a-kind art pieces, particularly for her vintage work. Who says nostalgia isn't what it used to be?
